Everyone has that one album you've gone into blind, maybe you never even knew anything about the artist who made it, you listen to it and it's amazing, you relate to it and the lyrics, all of the music greatly, you feel as though you know the album as well as the creators, and then you look it up and it turns out you were dead wrong about the meaning the whole time.

But fuck the true meaning your interpretation is far better than the fags who made the original music.

For me it's Pink Floyd's The Wall.

I heard the album and thought it was great, I managed to get an entire story out of it and that was intended sure but the one I got was a literal viewpoint of the lyrics, a society locked inside a wall, and all the characters in it and all their experiences. It was great. Then I learned years later that it was actually a personal autobiography about the band pretty much. Don't know about you but my version is far superior to their original meaning.

Anyone else feel this way about certain albums? Which one's were they?

I'm almost certain this album is meant to be about the rise of neo-fascism and the alt-right, but I like to imagine it's about a man going through somewhat of a mental breakdown. His personality is changing to the point where he's not even able to recognize himself anymore (Shit Mirror), he's struggling to fight this change (Play the Goddamn Part) but he's fully receded into his own mind (Ahead of Ourselves) and ultimately loses (Over and Out) with his "new" self fully taking over.

I'm Not from This World and God Break Down the Door are from the perspective of his alter-ego (You won't find the answers here, not the ones you came looking for, etc. Additional lyrics that were never added to the song further support this, We sleep hypnotized from the center, yes in this new place we call home, is there anybody but you sitting in the dark)

Not sure if this counts, but I like to think this album (especially if you listen to it with the track listing they originally wanted) is a series of anecdotes about a pair of ex-lovers who aren't in contact anymore but still think about each other constantly unbeknownst to the other.

As much as I like this album, this is just unpleasant to look at, and that's saying something when one of their other album covers is just a picture of a baby coming out of a vagina. It doesn't help that when you remove the disk from the case the picture's cropped and enlarged underneath.

the problem is a lot of those bands are all like "Orange Man bad" (he is but not for reasons most punks find him bad). yeah I get Reagan was a piece of shit but Trump is not Reagan, recessions are just a fact of life. yeah Trump's too nice to the kikes, and is too much of a Chicago school economics cuck, but that's not my problem.

>muh negro spirituals created western music

http://vimeo.com/82304757

Whites are only 10% of the world's population and the only race in population decline (creating only 7% of the world's babies), yet are the most industrious and innovative race the world has known.

Whites unlocked the secrets of DNA and relativity, launched satellites, created automation, discovered electricity and nuclear energy, invented automobiles, aircraft, submarines, radio, television, computers, medicine, telephones, light bulbs, photography, and countless other technological miracles.

Whites were the first to circumnavigate the planet by ship, orbit it by spacecraft, walk on the moon, probe beyond the solar system, climb the highest peaks, reach both poles, exceed the sound barrier, descend to the oceans depths… Blacks cannot even feed themselves.

Whites created nations for Blacks, but now have to provide food, medical, financial, and engineering aid to every Black nation. Blacks cannot survive without White charity. No pre-contact Black society ever created a written language, or weaved cloth, or forged steel, or invented the wheel, or plow, or devised a calendar, or code of laws, or system of measurement, or math, or built a multi-story structure, or sewer, or drilled a well, or irrigated, or created any agriculture, or built a road, or sea-worthy vessel.

They never domesticated animals, or exploited underground natural resources, or produced anything that could be considered a mechanical device.

Blacks were still living in the Stone Age when Whites discovered them just 400 years ago. Blacks are the oldest race, so they should be the most advanced — but they never advanced at all. Sub-Saharan Africans never made any contribution to the world. Everything they have was given to them by Whites.

Blacks lived alone in Africa, a vast continent with temperate climates and abundant resources for 60,000 years so they cannot blame slavery, racism, colonialism, culture, environment, or anything else for their failures.

I agree, they made rap which is probably the last relevant black only genre. It's shit since it doesn't innovate it just has similar sounds by similar artists in a genre that sounds the same. Lyrically it's boring and the only thing people like or seem to be attracted to is the flow and the sound design which are easy to replicate.Case and point the sound design is like free-ware beats, I know it's this because I follow a parody rap channel on youtube that uses these beats and they sound just like modern day rap songs. (look up liquid richard).

They used to be in rock music and varying genres to a point it felt like they were making what they liked or had a desire to fill a vaccum that their sound could fill. Like 2Limited and living color, it was music that had a unique melody that did more than just check off boxes in a checklist for music that is defined as "black".

Currently it has no heart and it's made to pander to retarded white kids and niggers that are 13yrs old. I know that sounds specific but that's a big demographic. It's just garbage to pander to idiots.

Rap is the most retarded genre in existence, how anybody over the age of 13 could listen to some manchild go "I can fuck anyone's bitch, I have a lot of currency, I'm not gay, but you are" is beyond me. The age old excuse, "I only listen for the production/I just like the beats." Yeah, right.

Anyone else notice this phenomenon? Basically, a music act makes their magnum opus, goes on tour for an extended period of time, and when they come back they never quite reach the heights of their previous work. They make little to no memorable hits, and the few that do chart are often forgotten in the grand scheme of things.

Metallica

>Releases Black Album in 1991

>Goes touring for 4 years

>Releases Load in 1996

Pink Floyd

>Releases The Wall in 1979

>Goes touring for 2 years, works on a movie the year after

>Releases TFC in 1983

U2

>Releases Achtung Baby in 1991

>Goes touring for 5 years but does release another album in this timeframe

>Releases Pop in 1997

And I'm not really referring to the "sell out" albums. A band or singer can continue to grow stronger even after they have "sold out", case in point R.E.M. who made AFTP in 1992 yet had a string of further successes for many years after its release. I'm referring to the band's definitive album with an EP's worth of chart-topping hits, followed by a longass tour where they seem to have the life sucked out of them, before a new album which is a mere shadow of its predecessor. I could list more examples but those were the 3 I distinctly recall.

For the next ARF listen-along stream, do you want to have a music night with /vg/? We were throwing around that idea for the past few months, and I was wondering if it is possible. It could be before or after the stream.

Sounds like fun to me, we can do that. Do you have any specific date and time in mind so far?

Usually I do the listenalong at european midnight time, but I'm very flexible at the moment. There's always a couple of people sticking by before and after the listenalong , so that could work out fine to do the movie night like you suggested

I'm completely open during Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays nights. So probably, July 29th or 31st? Actually, they want a music night where they can listen to songs and talk about them, but I think a movie night could fit in just fine.

They were talking about the Vietnam War and how music was influenced by it and vice-versa, so maybe the movie could be Apocalypse Now? I wanted to watch that movie ever since I have read Heart of Darkness. I really do not have much to work with, but I think this could work. Also, you can always push it back if you want.

Sorry, I did mean music night.

We can do whatever you want, though. Both ideas sound good to me.

I suggest we do it the 31st then. Our /mu/tants here usually need some time to make tracks for the album.

That sounds great, and it also gives me enough time to cook something up for the next album.
